UIDAI permits those who have Aadhaar cardsto change their address without the need for documentation. Aadhaar cardholders could change their addresseven if they don't have ID proof.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily suspended a vital service that lets you change the address of your Aadhaar card's address with no evidence of address.
UIDAI allows those who have Aadhaar cards to change their address, without any documents. Aadhaar cardholders can change their address as long as they are willing to accept the authentication by the verifier of their address. A verifier of address could be a close friend, relative landlord, family member or even a friend who can allow the Aadhaar card user to make use of their address as proof.
UIDAI has now stopped this facility. UIDAI addressed an Aadhaar Card Holder via tweets that the ability to update the address on Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Certificate has been removed. UIDAI has asked for the Aadhaar provider to alert the user that they have the option to update their address using a legitimate PoA document.
Dear Residents Dear Resident: The Contact Validation Letter service has been suspended until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
